'Oh yeah? ESPELLIMUS' by gerre 'Oh yeah? ESPELLIMUS' by gerre
I guess the characters would have different reactions when remembering the war. I wonder how they coped and learned to live with their memories.

Ginny, Harry, Lily, James and Albus are characters from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter-books.

Ginny looks very traumatized and frightened, poor girl. I always thought of Harry as the one who be traumatized, angsty and depressed at times (like when he was a teenager) and Ginny being strong and feisty so it's interesting to see her so vulnerable.

I always imaged Harry's anger and angst were due to his connection to Voldemort, so that when Voldemort died and Harry found love and peace, he became a happier and calmer person.
and ginny lost a brother. No matter how strong or feisty, I'm not sure you ever completely get over that.

I think that was part of it but he was a 14 year old who'd witnessed his classmate get murdered in front of him and a Dark wizard come back from the dead, then he witnessed his godfather and the Headmaster get murdered all before he was 17, was sent on a wild goose chase to find and destroy Hurixes, witnessed his best friends get tortured and several more murders, died and came back to life and on top of that was neglected, abused and unloved by his relatives for most of his life all before he was 18, that's bound to screw anyone up, even someone as resilient as Harry, especially when they never got any therapy or help of any kind.

Sure Harry would find happiness and peace (he is amazingly resilient after all) but it doesn't mean he doesn't have any issues or is haunted by his past (I'd imagine they'd all have some serious issues, especially when wizards don't seem to know what therapy is, no wonder they have so many screwed up wizards/witches running around.) It's like Ginny is so occupied trying to comfort Harry and keeping up this façade to everyone else except Ron and Hermione that everything's perfect that her own pain goes unnoticed. It's probably only because of Ginny that Harry's able to have this happy moment with their children but unfortunately she has to sacrifice some of her own happiness for her husband's.

I get that. Thanks for your long comments. It does seem a little sad for Ginny though, if she has to put her sadness aside and can't ask Harry to comfort her, in case he might get upset. I would imagine their relation to be on more equal terms, emotionally.

Well, I'd imagine Ginny would hide her own emotions out of her freewill, stubbornness whatever. She'd feel she had to be the strong one even though if she let Harry see that she was in pain that he'd comfort her. Plus, Ginny, like her brother Ron, would get be more likely to get angry than sad because she's got a temper. Harry is also known for being rather oblivious so it would make sense that he wouldn't notice that Ginny was upset unless she made it super obvious.

The details you put into scenes continue to astound me! I love this exploration of their family life and the way Ginny feels about things!! The photos on the walls and tiny little Lily make me so happy :D

There are so many things that I love about this picture. Little Albus and James are adorable and Harry is getting a kick out of watching them play. All three are oblivious to poor Ginny. Her back is turned to them but the pain in her face is heart-breaking. I always love the details that you put into your pictures--the plants, the pictures on the wall, the pets and scattered toys. They make everything seem so homey and real!

Poor Ginny, she still looks hurt, but I'll admit Al and James crack me up! They fighting Harry Potter against the Dark Lord is amazing, especially because I don't think Al will be a Slytherin.

Um...
It doesn't make any sense to me.
I mean, one day Harry's completely oblivious to the fact that Ginny exists and the next he's snogging her.
I'm one of those people that's read the book and still supports H/HR, because Harry and Hermione makes more sense to me. He's always around Hermione, and they compliment each other really well, whereas Harry's almost NEVER around Ginny and the only things they seem to have in common is the fact that they both like Quidditch and Voldemort has tried killing them both.
Also, I just think that Ginny only sees Harry's fame and fortune and Hermione sees who he really is, knows what he wants to do, and wants to help him get there.
Of course, that's just me.

ah okay, to me Harry/Ginny didn't seem that sudden and Hermione always seemed more like a sister to him. But of course everyone's entitled to their opinion and I'm glad you took the time to explain yours!
(anyway, shouldn't we be happy that J.K. Rowling didn't decide to pair Harry with someone like Millicent Bulstrode!)

I love this... and as so many before me have said, I love the expression on Ginny's face... and I would agree about her thinking of Fred :tears: I cried for hours when Fred died... I seriously couldn't pick the book back up for a week...

I'd say she's probably thinking of everyone else that died too... It would probably take her until after the kids all left Hogwarts to get over that...

I wonder if she ever did get over it. Apart from Harry, I think most of the 'survivors' must have experienced some form of post-traumatic stress.
I think Fred's death was the one that shocked me the most too, just when the war seemed to be going a little better.

I know... I'd love it if J.K. would go into more detail, like with how everyone was REALLY effected by the deaths from the war, and the war itself...

This idea is very intriguing, I have to say.:) I think it could be quite difficult to capture the expressions of people who have survived war and lost family and friends. But I think you've managed to do that wonderfully on Ginny's face.
I like the contrast between Ginny's tragic expression and the kids' playfulness. James looks so funny!
Dad Harry with little Lily are amazingly cute C: Nice background, too. The wall with the photographs is a great touch!
